Doing so will make your followers happy, and you will see their civilization grow. As you progress through the game, you can track how your followers’ culture is growing. Once they reach certain milestones, they acquire various capabilities. For example, they will be able to embark on expeditions across new islands! However, they will need your help in establishing their civilization before then can set sail to new horizons.
